Kamikaze Maui LLC was founded in 2009 by Michael Kuwahara on the island of Maui in Hawaii as a way to give back to the local community and spread a message of positive action. Inspired by his Japanese heritage, Michael decided to create a line of uniquely designed shirts that blended traditional Japanese images and Kanji lettering to create a product symbolic of righteous action in one’s community. Kamikaze Maui LLC donates $1 to a local charity for each T-shirt purchased, and works to foster good works in the Maui community and the world at large.

A message from founder Michael Kuwahara:
“The goal of Kamikaze Maui LLC is to encourage positive attitudes and show we all have the ability to brighten someone's life every day. For that reason, I want people to understand that we are all stars. The three swirls in our logo represent the company, the community and all of its stars- the people who make a positive difference, the people who do the right thing, people with a positive attitude. I want other businesses to see that you don't have to be a huge corporation to give to your local community or do something that makes a difference in someone’s life.”

Michael Kuwahara was born and raised on Maui, Hawaii and lived in Japan for three years where he studied his Japanese heritage. Currently he resides in Wailuku, Hawaii with his wife, Tammy, and their daughter.
